Champions AntiClimax
Champions trophy was blazing till the last game. Windies were trying to be vintage Windies, all calypso and flair. To be truthful, they were Gayle and chander but leaving that aside, twas nice to see the team kinda come up a bit to recapture the glory days.
Truth be told, there is a distinct happiness in any true cricket lover (read not just indian cricket lover) to see the revival of the Windies. The flair and the irritating inconsistencies is just poetry.
India for all its gung ho batting lineups and dhonis can never ever really capture the imagination that the windies do...at least mine.
Well am i happy ozzies won? no and yes....no cos i hate ozzies :-) yes cos they deserve to. something south africa didnt do and neither did india was to pounce of the slightest of weakness offered by the west indies and decimate them. But ozzies, just a lil inch of weakness and man o man how they take the chance. thats sheer professionalism and talent.
yes also, cos champs winners dont win world cup. :-) Trust ozzies to spoil the applecart of my intutive predictions but hey they got numbers against them. My take is ashes is going to drain them off a bit more than they would like it to. However the WC07 does give them enough time to regroup and recover.
So anyway with about 5 months before WC, before the Ashes and India's trip to SA, i am just sticking out my neck to predict ....
Top 8 nations will be the obvious. Do we even want to go there?
this is where Ozzies will recover from their ashes rashes...india will hit big against weak teams, the rest will follow the script to S.
and in super eight, india will drain off, ozzies will rule, sa will be professional, england out...the maverics pakis will surprise.
my top 4 will be
Aus, SA,WI,Pak
Semis ...Aus Vs Pakis....Pakis will win ...
SA vs WI ...Windies will win
Pak vs WI --- finals ....is it revival of the calypso cricket? i believe this is the year Windies will life the cup again after 28 years....
tis just a prediction...will like to see how it matches and o yeah it aint gonna remain the same as i am sure i will be changing it as time progresses......
India SA - 3 tests 5 ODIs...my prediction SA 1-0 SA 4-1 ...what???? yeah...india is not up there yet....i wont be surprised if the test series goes more wallopy.......Kumble wll shine barring that a century from jaffa, dravid in tests and in odis...india will be all at sea except in natal where they might win a close game.
Ashes...uhmmmmm is it even a competition? Pigeon's 5-0 aint such impossible. But i will settle for 2-1 Aussies.....u see Aussies will win all, but lose the WC in my script....who i want to shine...
Barring Pieterson, i think the man in form will be the BC..Bell and Collingwood... That is before bell got the bloody award....now i am not sure if bell will ring the same tune. Collingwood is hte guy i would like to fall upon.Typical Old School dependent kind. and bowling, o well, the sardar has to rule the roost.....This is going to be Monty's Ashes. Either he crumbles ( i doubt) or he comes up as the next best thing in left arm spin. AS u can see i seem to be rooting for England...even though i hate them...tis the whole underdog thing but english cricketers are hardly behaving as one...what with autobiographies being released after coupla seasons...
